If this CarPlay unit is replacing an E85/E86 OEM sat nav unit, it is required to purchase a BMW Business CD head unit. Part No. 6943437. This allows the user to be able to adjust to the correct audio input settings for the vehicle which would otherwise be restricted due to the loss of the OEM screen.

Fitting to vehicles without factory satellite navigation is possible. However, this will require a hole to be cut in the dashboard and no details are given due to the kit being developed and supplied for vehicles with factory sat-nav only. This installation is fully reversible.

Bluetooth (CD input) - Recommended by ZM-Performance

If you wish for Bluetooth connection this requires a bluetooth dongle to be purchased separately and wired into the multi-pin connector under the dashboard. Options such as the "Blue Music" T - harness dongle can be purchased and ensure steering wheel controls integrate seamlessly with the screen by using the CD input to the head unit.

AUX input

Connect the AUX cable provided into the new display and run behind the dashboard and plug in to the AUX input under the dashboard if available.

FM transmission

FM transmission is an option with this display to play audio from the display through the BMW business CD head unit, however ZM-Performance does not recommend this due to poor sound quality.
